When it comes to building your business–that statement is true. But how can you be expected to know? Who told you?

Here's what you do know:

You know that you only need two things to start a business: your product or serivce and a paying customer.

You know that you have bills to pay, and you need to pay yourself. You also know you need to pay taxes on those profits.

You know that LLCs and Corporations are an option.

You know that you want your business to be more than what it is right now.

Here's what you don't know:

Unless you went to college and have a Masters or Ph.D. in Business and Accounting, you won’t know the detailed answers to those questions, and that's because, to the unknown, nothing is obvious.

That was the case for me when I first started my business. When I realized that I needed to be self-employed, I already had a full-time job and a family to support, so I didn't have time for college. Therefore, I enrolled in the school of hard knocks. And trust me, that’s a school you want to avoid if possible.

Most people don’t know gritty details of running a business. They only know how to sell their products and or services. Which is good but can be misleading.

Yes, at its core, the only thing you need for a business to be successful is a product or service and a customer willing to pay. Still, to be sustainable, many other essential items must be known and implemented.
